"Where Families Grow Through Music: Discover the Joy of Learning at
Dennis Frayne Music Studios"
Families looking to enrich their lives with the joy of music will find a welcoming home at Dennis Frayne Music Studios—the studio behind the Laguna Niguel and Lake Forest Schools of Music. Our studios are built on the belief that music is for everyone, and that every student, regardless of age or ability, deserves a positive, encouraging environment to explore their talents. With a strong focus on personalized instruction, we help children, teens, and adults grow musically while building confidence, focus, and creativity in every lesson.
What sets Dennis Frayne Music Studios apart is our unique combination of caring, professional instructors and a fun, student-centered teaching philosophy. Our teachers are not only highly skilled musicians—they are also trained to meet students where they are, adapting lessons to each learner’s personality, goals, and pace. Whether a student is learning piano, drums, voice, clarinet, guitar, or another instrument, they’ll find a curriculum that inspires and motivates. We focus on more than just notes and rhythms—we cultivate a lifelong love for music in a warm, family-friendly setting.
Parents love that our schools offer convenient scheduling, flexible lesson formats (private individual or small group, in-studio or in-home, in-person or online), and opportunities for performance, awards, and goal-setting. More than just music lessons, Dennis Frayne Music Studios offers a community where students thrive artistically and personally. It’s not uncommon for entire families to study with us—because learning music together can strengthen bonds and bring joy to everyday life. At Dennis Frayne Music Studios, your family becomes part of our music family—and together, we make learning music an adventure to remember!

Student of the Month
Lila Reynolds
Lila started taking piano lessons when she was seven years old, and singing lessons last summer. She loves playing the piano and creating music. "I especially enjoy playing the piano when I can also sing along. It’s a great way to express my emotions."
Lila says she has enjoyed singing since she was little, and appreciates how the songs she sings connect with people in different ways.
While she doesn't play any other instruments yet, Lila would really like to learn to play guitar someday. At school, she feels a strong sense of accomplishment and pride when she gets an A on a test or project. At home, Lila feels surrounded by a loving, encouraging family. "I have an awesome little brother named Logan who plays piano as well. We do almost everything together and always have a blast." As for other hobbies, Lila and Logan are learning the art of Taekwondo, and Lila enjoys drawing, painting, reading, and writing.
Lila's music teachers are very proud of her, find her a joy to teach, and offer their congratulations! Mr. Denny describes Lila as a diligent piano student with strong sight reading skills and a beautiful voice, who is always eager to learn something new. Miss Kendra feels inspired by Lila and applauds her passion and dedication to her craft.
Spotlight on Chasen Ha
Mr. Chasen played violin and piano when he was in elementary school, but did not enjoy it much. "Up until I was in 6th grade I had only ever heard folk music and classical music. When I was 12 years old, I first experienced classic rock, jazz, blues, and metal. I was hooked! I asked my parents to get me a guitar for Christmas that year.
I promised I would practice. For the next 12 months I took basic lessons and practiced everyday, some days for up to 10 hours! By the time I got to high school I knew I wanted to have a life in music."
Mr. Chasen learned to play the saxophone so he could be in marching band and jazz band. He studied with Don Hawkins, who in the 1960s played with Lee Ferrell of The Righteous Brothers and toured with them. "He told me that Lee would bring his baby son Will Ferrell with them on tour, since they were also from Orange County. That was one of his most treasured stories." Don has continued to be Mr. Chasen's horn teacher and mentor after high school. "When I was in college, he helped me with music theory and was always very inspiring. He’s the reason I know what a great teacher looks like."
After getting a degree from Cal State Fullerton, Mr. Chasen decided to follow in his mom’s footsteps and become a teacher. He enjoys teaching very much and wants to recreate the magic that he experienced having a great mentor to guide his students on their musical journeys and progress.
Did You Know?
In the Good Old Summertime!
In the Good Old Summertime!
is not only a beloved nostalgic song from 1902—it’s also the title of a classic 1949 musical film! The song, with its cheerful melody and turn-of-the-century charm, became so iconic that it was featured prominently in the movie starring Judy Garland and Van Johnson.
Set in a music shop and filled with romance and song, the film helped revive interest in early American popular music, making both the tune and the title part of Hollywood and musical history.
In the Good Old Summertime is arranged for intermediate piano in our Presto! It's Piano Magic, Book 2. (Jason P. recently performed this tune at our summer recital!)
Inspirations
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
“In the good old summer time, in the good old summer time,
Strolling thro’ the shady lanes, with your baby mine;
You hold her hand and she holds yours, and that’s a very good sign,
That she’s your tootsey wootsey, in the good old summer time.”
